A crash and fire have closed Interstate 70 and U.S. 6 east of Eagle.
The Colorado Department of Transportation reported the crash on U.S. 6 at 1:25 p.m., then added the Interstate 70 closures at 1:37 p.m. Traffic is closed in both directions on both roadways.
Smoke can be seen in the area on CDOT traffic cameras.
A person who answered the phone at the Greater Eagle County Fire Protection District confirmed there is a fire in the area that has caused the closure, but she is not sure how the fire started. The size of the fire also is not clear.
“Looks like it could be an extended closure,” she said, judging by the fire. “But that’s all we know right now.”
