“The ring of innovation will rule us,” says Sabbas Joseph, Founder/Director, Wizcraft International, while speaking at Wed Nation, a two-day digital event from April 10, 2020.
Spelling out the future trends for weddings, Joseph points out, “Corporate events may be affected but not the wedding business. Small will become big and as small ideas become more attractive, the focus will be on the quality of guests and experiences. Creativity will need to come into focus as personalisation will be the key.” He goes on to explain that performers will become bigger and more memorable, citing the examples of artists like JLo and Beyonce, performing at weddings. Most importantly, he remarks that destinations will be recreated within small spaces.
The mantra, he says, will be “The rarer the better.” With technology influencing entertainment choices, instead of people travelling the idea will be to bring the people closer to you, whether it is by using robots or by livestreaming the wedding ceremony. A hi-tech walk down the aisle may soon be common among many wedding goers as technology becomes the new asset.
And with weddings changing, how can wedding planning agencies remain the same? Joseph mentions that this industry will undergo a sea change. “As uncertainty of business forces entrepreneurs to rightsize, the laid off workers will form a huge pool of freelancers available to all.
And when companies come under pressure on profitability, creative-centric and tech-enabled businesses will be born. This will also give rise to collaborations between different agencies as traditional businesses will evolve faster.”
Joseph further predicts that wedding planners will push to become an organised industry as wedding agency owners will spend more time on learning technology and its applications. As for job aspirants in these sectors, Joseph mentions that those with deeper knowledge of technology will find greater recruitment chances at these companies.
He finally concludes with a morale booster, saying, “India will go global, wedding planners will go global, we will be the world’s dream factory. Weddings held outside India will be designed and delivered by specialist teams from India. We will have clients from all over the world. The guests may not travel, but Indian wedding planners will.”
Now, that’s something to look forward to.
